Taggin’ The Light Fantastic

I’ve always been interested in ephemera. My own poetics tend toward favouring the utterance of the line over the semantics of the line. I like the way the utterance projects away from the subject to simultaneously create and inhabit a poetic space for the orator and  the auditor.

Currently on display at the Glenbow Museum, Calgary, AB. Dennis Oppenheim’s “Device To Root Out Evil” (1997) depicts “[a] country church is seen balancing on it’s steeple, as if it had been lifted by a terrific force and brought to the site as a device or method of rooting out evil forces.” (oppenheim)
